Palm Springs' spring weather is glorious, so we suggest spending as much time outside as possible. We suggest starting at Wilma & Frieda’s, a popular café known for its house specialties. Linger on the patio over benedicts and scrambles, or go all in with the blackberry custard French toast. The cozy, sunlit atmosphere is the perfect way to ease into the day before any adventures begin.
The great thing about this Palm Springs Spring Itinerary is that you can pick and choose what to do—but a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park definitely deserves a top spot on your list. About an hour from downtown Palm Springs, we’ve found the West entrance offers the most direct and scenic route. It’s close enough for an easy out-and-back adventure, but far enough to feel like you’ve escaped into another world.
Not feeling like a day trip? No problem! You don’t have to leave town to have a full-on adventure—Palm Springs is a living, breathing design museum. Hop on a self-guided bike ride through mid-century modern neighborhoods or join a guided architecture tour. Either way, you’ll work up an appetite worthy of a long, lazy lunch at one of downtown’s sunny patios. We’d recommend Boozehounds, where you can sip, snack, and soak up the vibes in the bright indoor/outdoor atrium or out on the patio—and yes, your furry companion is welcome too!
If your idea of relaxation involves a little friendly competition, tee up at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort, one of Palm Springs’ most popular public golf courses. With two scenic 18-hole layouts, it’s a great pick for all skill levels. If shopping’s more your vibe, wander through local favorites, like Thick as Thieves, a treasure trove of jewelry, artwork, bath and body products, and more. The Frippery is a vintage wonderland, and Iconic Atomic is where all your retro dreams come true.
If you happen to be in town during Stagecoach or Coachella, you’ll feel the energy buzzing all the way from Indio to downtown Palm Springs. After an incredible day of music, sunshine, and seriously good style, unwind with a cocktail at Bar Cecil, where the drinks are as creative as the crowd. Grab a seat on the patio, soak up the desert air, and enjoy some of the best people-watching in town.
Cap off the day with dinner at Spencer’s, then swing by Toucan’s Tiki Lounge before heading back to your swanky vacation rental for a late-night dip in the pool—because in Palm Springs, there’s no curfew on fun!
